Two People Applied for the Same Patent on the Same Day
My cousin was appalled when she applied for a patent on her invention and was told that it needed to go to the Board of Patent Appeals because another person filed the same patent at the exact same time. My cousin was told that this does not happen often but it does happen. My cousin must now provide even more documentation to prove that she invented the product before her competitor. I hope she kept really good records with dates as she worked through her ideas and prototypes. It will be interesting to see how this turns out in a couple of months.
