The Woman’s Version of a Ford

American Vogue called the little black dress the “Ford” of the fashion industry. This was because, like the Model T, the little black dress was not only an instant hit but widely available to every woman. Coco Chanel designed the original little black dress back in the 1920′s. She firmly believed that fashion should not only be chic, but be completely functional as well. Her belief was spot on and the little black dress hangs in the closets of women around the world. Today, more than 80 years after it’s inception, the little black dress is still a fashion industry standard.
