The Osteopathic Difference
So, what’s the osteopathic difference?
After visiting physiotherapists and chiropractors, I then went to an osteopath. It all started because of a pain in my lower back – I got it after a karate class. You should have seen me – I was all bent over and my back would ache and ache at night.
The chiropractor would crack my back, but it would hurt. I’d feel better for a little while, but it would take two or three days for the pain of the treatment to wear off. I’ve only been to a few chiropractors, so maybe not all of them are like the ones I went to see.
I then went to a physiotherapist, and it was strange. He didn’t really touch me at all – he just showed me some stretching exercises. None of them seemed to help with my back ache, and so I found it hard to keep doing them – I wasn’t sure that they were going to help.
I then went to an osteopath – and he gave me a very deep massage which felt good. He theb moved my spine all around while I was lying down and he found the exact spot where it was hurting. He then did a gentle manipulation with a cracking sound, but it didn’t hurt like at the chiropractor.
It only took a few visits and then the pain was gone. To me, that’s the osteopathic difference.
